Client Help

This Help section is designed to help existing flymedia clients with aspects of their hosting requirements.

EMAIL:
We will create email accounts for you, once this is done, we will talk you through the process of connecting outlook express to them.
If you have the confidence or knowledge, you can do this yourself as follows:
Add a created account using Outlook Express:
1. open Outlook Express
2. click on 'tools' at the top of the screen
3. go down to 'accounts' and click it
4. a window will pop up, click on 'add', and scroll over to 'mail' and click it
5. type your name in the box, and click 'next'
6. type the email address you have been given
7. your incoming mail server is a 'pop3' server
8. type 'www.yourdomainname.com' in the first box
9. type 'www.yourdomainname.com' in the second box, and then click 'next'
10. type your given username and password in the relevant boxes and click 'next'
11. your email account should now be set up, press 'send and receive' to test
Send mail through our servers you will need to authenticate your details.
To do this follow these points:
1. open Outlook Express
2. click on 'tools' at the top of the screen
3. go down to 'accounts' and click it
4. a window will pop up, choose your new account and press the 'properties' button.
5. click the 'servers' tab
6. under 'Outgoung Mail Server' tick the 'My server requires authenticaltion' box
7. then click 'settings'
8. use same settings as my incoming mail server.
Send mail through your ISP's servers
To do this follow these points:
1. open Outlook Express
2. click on 'tools' at the top of the screen
3. go down to 'accounts' and click it
4. a window will pop up, choose your new account and press the 'properties' button.
5. click the 'servers' tab
6. type in the name of your ISP's mail server.
* to find your ISP's mail server address, go to Google and search for the name of your ISP, along with the words 'mail server'.
Note:
If you decide to keep a copy of the messages on the server, you do so at your own risk.
This will fill up your webspace may result in a loss of service.
There will be a payable fee to rectify this problem.
Therefore we advise that you set this feature to no more than 7 days.
The server should not be used to store emails. Email should be regularly downloaded to your PC using your email program.
FTP:
there are 5 pieces of information needed to ftp using your ftp program
1. host name / address: 'www.yourdomainname.com'.
2. host type: UNIX standard
3. username: you will have been given this.
4. password: you will have been given this
5. the folder in which your website can be found is called 'mainwebsite_html'
WEB BASED EMAIL:
The address for web based email is 'www.yourdomainname.com/webmail'
Type your username and password that you will have been given.
Your webmail page should be displayed.
If you delete an email via webmail, it simply moves it to the 'trash' folder. emails in the trash folder are included in your webspace limit, so be sure to regularly 'PURGE' the emails, otherwise you may have full email consisting mainly of trash.
If you have exceeded you email limit, webmail will not display your emails.
You will need to use your email program to download emails, which will reduce the number of emails on the server.
SEARCH ENGINES:
getting to the top of a desired search engine list is virtually impossible, however, you can do a few things to help.
1. have the words you want to be searched for in your domain name
2. have the words you want to be searched for in your page name
3. have the words you want to be searched for in your page title
4. have the words you want to be searched for in your page text
5. fully utilise your meta tags
6. have site content that matches your meta tags
7. submit your site to the best search engines
